Grammar Peeve

Actually it's more of an idiom peeve. You do not reign someone in. You rein them in. Like a horse. Get it? You're not ruling them, you're holding them back from whatever it is they're doing. Restraining them. Putting on the brakes.
Also, you're not towing the line, you're toeing it.
I could go on, but I probably shouldn't. Misused idiom is one of my bugbears.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Monday.
Victory is mine, because the client who owed me a fairly serious chunk money that I'd become resigned to never receiving (because it'd be a Herculean task to sue a company on the other side of the globe who, incidentally, just ended their association with me because of a hundred million dollar budget cut in one single department) just paid up, and the sight of that Airmail envelope made me want to tear around the room squealing with joy and the knowledge that I now have a deposit for an apartment and can afford to pay my taxes.
Instead of capering, though, I settled for having a nice, mature, celebratory cup of coffee and scribbling (something happy for once) in my notebook. And I made plans to eat out somewhere nice sometime this week. Ah, the joys of being self-employed - because getting paid is always an adventure!

Although (*snerk*), now I'm having amusing thoughts about someone assuming the Mantel of Power™. And probably taking over the reigns from whoever had it before.
