Victory!
So my mom started reading HP a couple of weeks ago, basically so she would know what I was talking about when I babbled to her about random theories and stories and plot points (just as I plan to start reading Thursday Next for the reciprocal reason; that and it sounds wonderful).
Up until now, she had more or less been reading it to humor me - she just finished PoA a couple of days ago, and her basic assessment of the books was 'they're OK' (although she was captivated by the Shack scene). Today she started reading GoF.
As of this evening, she was seriously considering cancelling a dinner date so she could stay home with it. Can you say converted?
