Remus hears the flick of the lighter as he walks up behind Sirius.
"You should quit smoking, you know," he says as Sirius stuffs the pack back into his pocket. "Those things'll kill you."
Sirius turns, and his eyes are unreadable. "When I was nine, Regulus and I went swimming. He pushed me under the water and held me there for fifteen minutes. Magic makes us hard to kill, Moony."
Remus can only stare at him. "Sometimes you confuse the hell out of me, you know that?"
Sirius grins suddenly, like a sunrise. "I know. It's part of my charm."
